Is it strange to sometime miss childhood memories?

bluenosesrule asked:

A few weeks ago I visited a Village between Huddersfield and Barnsley which I spent a lot of my school holidays at when I was little. I visited it for the first time in 6 years and realized how much I enjoyed my visits there.

I realized I miss visiting Skelmanthorpe. My Grandad used to live there but he moved away from there in 2003, I am 18 years old and visited there to see someone I hadn’t seen for a few years.

Do the rest of you get places which you miss or childhood memories which you miss?

Of course! It’s ok to miss memories, I’m pretty sure everyone misses things. I do. But that’s why we have memories, ha.

I mostly miss the people that used to be there. Always be nice to people, they seem to disappear to quickly.

Its perfectly normal to miss our childhoods. It was a much simpler time when life didnt seem so lost.

Yes i miss everything about my childhood , the house i grew up in ,my Grandmothers house with its scary attic , her strange toilet outside (although she had one upstairs too) .When i was a child i used to stay with her in the school holidays , i remember hearing the milkman delivering the milk in the early morning and the sound of the seagulls and the cuckoos ,they seemed to be her alarm clock ,My Great Nana used to live there too and i remember her making lemon tea in the afternoon and I used to take it up to her and sit and talk to her for a while until she got tired , they both always had interesting stories to tell of how life was during the war, she even had one of those old gas masks which she kept down in the cellar amongst other things left over from the war .

Also i remember the feeling i used to have at Christmas ,the build up and the atmosphere was just like it was in the movies .My parents always tried their best to give us a good Christmas it seemed to go on for days ,with friends popping over and being able to stay up late , stuffing our faces with chocolate till we were fit to burst .Nowadays Christmas is over by Boxing day , i’m not even old and have young children myself ,but its not the same anymore Christmas has lost its magic ,maybe its because i’m an adult now and they are no longer with us now .Yes i miss the old days ,but i relive them in my memory .
